Grants Pass Scene

Some of the features of Grants Pass Scene include a listing of upcoming events, a venue listing each with information about the venue including contact information and a Google map for directions. The event listing also includes links to ticket sales where necessary.
The home page features a mp3 player that will promote local artists albums with links to their sales outlet that can be iTunes, Amazon.com or directly to the artists own sales on their website.

Fans and patrons have the ability to post their own photographs directly to the venue galleries via a gallery submission menu at the top of the page. However all uploaded photographs will be moderated prior to being displayed on the website to prevent inappropriate usage.

The Grants Pass Scene website is also mobile device friendly. It is viewable on portable devices such as smartphones by Google, Apple and Blackberry. The Apple iPad is supported and can also download the website as an App on the iPad home screen. The mobile optimized version is automatic as the website automatically detects the device the website visitor is using and delivers the appropriate version. The view can be switched back and forth between the normal desktop browser version and mobile version at the bottom of the page.

Some of the venues already published by local artists and the Grants Pass Scene editors are The Historic Rogue Theatre, The Cedarwood Saloon, The G Street Bar and Grill and Dorman’s Place. More venues are being added daily.
If you would like your restaurant, bar, theater or other event venue added you can tell them via the contact us form on the website. Artists are also invited to publish their events and promote their works.

There is no charge for venue or event listings.

You can visit the Grants Pass Scene website at grantspassscene.com.

SOURCE: Rogue Video, YouTube. In the first segment of the Gold Ray documentary, we learn about the history of the first hydroelectric plant in Southern Oregon.

When the Frank and Charles Ray first conceived of the idea of damming up the Rogue River to provide hydroelectric power to Southern Oregon, many people didn’t believe it was possible. Those who believed it couldn’t conceive of the need for that much electricity. But the Rays persisted and the Rogue Valley was one of the first places on the West Coast to have electricity. The Rays conceived of Gold Ray as more than just an industrial site, but a monument to the new technology that would (and did) usher in a new age. Gold Ray became a thriving tourist attraction and social center as well as an industrial complex.

Hands-Free Faucets Not Germ-Free, Study Finds

SOURCE WebMD: Electronic Faucets May Be More Contaminated With Disease-Carrying Bacteria Than Manual Faucets, Researcher Says.

March 31, 2011 — Electronic faucets may be touch-free, but they are far from germ-free. In a new study, researchers at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine report finding higher levels of disease-carrying bacteria on hands-free faucets compared to conventional, manually operated faucets. Their discovery led to the removal of all such faucets in clinical areas at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the cancellation of plans to install hands-free models in a hospital building now under construction.
